It was true. Draconia was most beautiful of all lands known to men.
Freedom didn’t need much persuasion – this seemed like a good idea.
He was tired and it wasn’t easy to travel with so much gold.
So, he decided to build a palace and settle down.

With a sinking heart, Grey flew with the news to Móhrdai and Gamóhra.
“What have you done, you damned squirt?” roared Móhrdai in anger.
“He is of no use to us now! I will never be able to revenge Mother’s death!
All these years in suspense for nothing!? Who will break the curse now?
You?” he asked with a mocking frown.
“Show me where he is at once! I will smash him like a bug.
And while I am it, I will kill you too – I have no use of you anymore.”

“Please Master, Freedom has forgotten everything, but I persuaded him to
settle here in Draconia. Give him a little time, one day he will remember,
this, I assure you!” pleaded Grey while pacing the ground before the reptilian.

Móhrdai and Gamóhra had no choice. Their desire for revenge was prevailing over
the urge to kill the hated human at once, so they agreed unwillingly
to bide their time and let Freedom live,
awaiting the opportunity to avenge their mother.

Thus lived Freedom, Hope well forgotten,
in a palace of a pure gold and crystal halls.
On golden plates he dined and from diamond cups he drank.
His life was a never-ending feast – day after day, night after night.

Nevermore did he help those in need.
No love did he spread to the others…
Deaf to birdsong, blind to eternal starlight,
the outside world held no meaning for him.
He dreamt not of freedom and his thoughts
were empty of Hope.

Surrounded by riches, he lived happily in his golden palace
and his promises to return the stolen gold were all forgotten.

One fateful day, while walking in his garden, Freedom saw in the grass
Hope’s ring. It had just been placed there by the Crow, now hiding in the bushes.

As if awakening from a deep sleep Freedom felt a strange warmth.
How did this ring seem so familiar?!
It had lost it’s shine, but still, something dear and familiar
flinched in his heart from the ring,
that once graced Hope’s hand.

Instantly, all memories of the forgotten world came back!

“Oh…what have I done…?
My dear Hope, I had forgotten you….I betrayed you…
The blinding gold and a monstrous greed had taken over my mind…
All these years you’ve suffered while I was the only one,
who could break the spell on you…
Will I ever see you again? Will you ever forgive me?”
